Betty Garms Obituary

Betty Louise Garms, 62, was called home to the arms for her Lord and Savior on Dec. 21, 2015 in Kerrville. She was born April 03, 1953 in Union City, Indiana to Lester Lee Walling and Clarice Waneda (Craig) Walling. She met the love of her life, Benjamin D. Garms III while attending Gulf Coast Bible College and the married on May 06, 1977 in Houston. This was one of the most important times in Betty's life; she came to accept the Lord through salvation. Betty loved to care for others during her life working as a pastor's wife or for in home health care. You could truly say Betty cared for others and thought of them always, she took the time to send cards to family and friends with handwritten notes of love and encouragement (not just on special occasions and holidays). In the last few years Betty took the time to write in a diary to her family sharing her love of the Lord and the joy that each one of them brought to her life. Betty had a kindness in her spirit to turn the darkest hours to the most positive of times. She never wanted anyone to worry, she always wanted the times to be happy. Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother (Nicole was her everything), sister, aunt and beloved Christian friend. Betty was a true sports fan and loved to watch every sporting event on television from basketball to football and even golf. She was preceded in death by her parents and father in law, Benjamin D. Garms Jr. Betty is survived by her husband, Benjamin D. Garms III; daughter, Amber Vazquez and husband Emilio; granddaughter, Nicole LeAnn Guzardo; sister, Wanda Grosch and husband Art, Carolyn Evans and husband Jerry, Marilyn Lutz and husband Hermann; mother in law, Mollie M. Garms; sister in law, Marsha Perkins and husband Dan; brothers in law, Roger Garms and wife Diana, Barry D. Garms. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She will be loved and missed by many other family members and friends. The family will hold private services at a later date and interment will be in Locker.
