Dell King Obituary

Dell Roy King of Kerrville, Texas passed away peacefully into the blue skies on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the age of 90. Dell Roy was born in Mason, Texas on October 16, 1925 to George Benjamin King and Hattie Emma (Simon) King. Dell Roy was a 1943 graduate of Mason High School and was the quarterback on the football team. Dell Roy attended The University of Texas in Austin where he trained in the Naval ROTC V12 Program from October 1943 to February 1946. He graduated in 1948 with a BBA and MBA in Business Administration and a BS in Naval Sciences and Tactics. He was active in the Marines from 1943 to 1952 and served as 2nd Lieutenant in Quantico, VA. In 1948, Dell Roy went to work for Peat Marwick Mitchell in Houston, TX as an Accountant where he met his loving wife Judith Ellen and they married in 1951. In January 1954, Dell Roy and Judy moved to Sao Paulo, Brazil with Anderson Clayton & Co. serving as a Vice President, Director in Finance. He also served for a term as President of the American Chamber of Commerce. In 1987, Dell Roy retired and moved to Kerrville, Texas. A man of many talents, Dell Roy enjoyed building grandfather clocks, ponds with waterfalls, restoring an old 1947 Chevy pink up and an endless plethora of creative projects. He loved Mason and enjoyed visiting as often as he could especially loved to attend/track Mason HS football games. Dell Roy volunteered with AARP for numerous years preparing income tax returns during tax season. He was preceded in death by his parents, G.B. King and Hattie (Simons) King and his brother George B. King who was killed in World War II. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy of 64 years; daughters, Mary Azar of Kerrville and Nancy King of Houston; son, David King of San Diego, CA; niece, Dianne Schulze of Kerrville; grandsons, Jason Medcalf (Karina) of Miami, FL, Robert Azar (Kari) of El Paso, Steven Azar of San Diego, CA, Alan Azar of Denver, CO and great grandsons, Daniel, Kiah and Ian. Dell Roy will leave a lasting memory on all that knew him and we will miss him terribly. The family wishes to take this time to reflect on Dell's life and no local services will be held. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Hilltop Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kerrville for their excellent care.
