Everlena H. Norman, 65, of Kerrville, Texas completed her journey on Monday, February, 8, 2016 at the Alpine Terrance Nursing Home. She was born February 28, 1950 in Hughes, Arkansas, the daughter of Mr. Jesse Hollis and Ms. Irmmie Bailey Hollis. In 1965 as a student of Booker T. Washington High School, she met Thomas Frank Harris III and the next year they had a son. Everlena graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, Memphis, TN with the class of 1968. In 1973, she attended the University of Washington where Everlena met W. Roy Brown. The next year they had a son. In 1974, she received her Certification in Educational Competence and in 1976 granted a Certificate of Achievement in Practical Nursing both from the Settle Central Community College. In 1979, she was united in marriage with W. Roy Brown and they had a daughter and moved to San Antonio the same year. In 1983, their marriage ended. In 1984, she started to work at the Kerrville VA hospital. In that same year, she became friends with Leon Norman, whom she would later marry on June 21, 1990 in Kerrville. On May 16, 1993, she was awarded a Bachelor of Arts Major in Psychology from Schreiner College. She was employed as a nurse at the State Hospital and as a special education teacher at Tom Daniels from 2000 to 2010. She worked in Home Health Care from 2010 until the time of her passing. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, poetry, crafts, scrapbooking, reading and spending time with her friends, family and children. She is survived by her husband, Leon Norman of Kerrville; 3 children, Patrick A. Brown of San Antonio, Roy Brown of Houston and Disa T. Brown of Tyler and 11 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Ella Mae Harris; mother, Irmmie Lee Bruce; grandfather, Charles Harris; father, Jessie Hollis; brother, Thomas Griffin; sisters, Aretha Dabney and Mary Margaret Washington. Memorial Service will be held 10 am, Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 508 North Center St, San Antonio with Rev. James P. Amerson officiating. The family will be there to greet guest before the services from 9:30 am until Noon. Memorials may be made to the Everlena Norman Memorial Fund, 3510 Cameron Springs, San Antonio, Texas 78244.
