Oscar Gonzales, 69, went to be with the Lord on November 17, 2016 in Kerrville. He was born on Nov. 01, 1947 in Marfa to Elvira (Rojo) and Santos Gonzales. Oscar proudly served our country in the US Army during the Vietnam War Era. He worked for several years in construction operating heavy equipment and then for the City of Odessa. Oscar volunteered many hours for the Salvation Army in Big Springs. Also, drove a bus for the church children of Life Challenge Church, Odessa. Oscar could fix anything and was a great handy man. He was always on the move and could never sit still. The legacy that Oscar leaves behind is one of spiritual uplifting of others. He spent many hours studying his Bible and talking to others about God. When, you met Oscar, you knew he was a Godly man and loved the Lord. He cared deeply for his family and talked about how precious they were to him. He will be remembered as a loving son, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was preceded in death by his father, Santos Gonzales; brothers, Gilbert, Ricky and Santos Gonzales; sister, Maria Gonzales. Oscar is survived by his loving daughters, Shannon Schiwitz, Courtney Gonzales, Rebecca Seward, Viani Guevara and Yessica Natividad; his mother, Elvira Gonzales; his grandchildren, Isaac, Araly, Martin, Jocelyn, Nathan, Kaitlyn, Lilliane, Gwendolyn, Genevieve and Madison; his siblings; Dina, Marianne, Delma, Gloria, Dorothy, Freddy, Arturo, Larry and Jesse. He will be loved and missed by many other family members and friends.
