Patrick Bergmann Obituary

Mr. Patrick Bergmann, 72, passed away on February 18, 2018 in Kerrville, Texas after battling liver cancer for the past year. Patrick was born to Mary and John Bergmann, Jr. on January 10, 1946 in San Antonio, Texas. He spent most of his formative years in San Antonio where he was a 1964 graduate of Sam Houston High School. Shortly after graduating, Patrick joined the US Navy and served as a submariner during the Vietnam War from 1966-1969. He spoke fondly of visiting Hawaii, Guam, Japan and many other places around the world. His dream was to one day return to Maui. After he left the service, Patrick met Nancy Lawson, and they married in Dallas in 1975. Shortly after the birth of their two children, they moved to the Texas Hill Country to raise their family. Patrick worked his entire life as an appliance repairman. He had a lifelong passion for tinkering with mechanical things and putting them back together. He spent several decades with Sears & Roebuck. After retiring, he didn't want to stop working completely and found a new home with Appliance Plus. Coworkers remember him being able to fix just about anything. Patrick was a quiet man and a deep thinker. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and son. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing and animals of all kind...especially his pets. Patrick acquired a love for golf in high school and could still beat the young whippersnappers he would play with. Every summer he would spend a week on the Texas coast fishing all hours of the day and night. He also loved to watch the birds that visited his property and anxiously awaited the painted buntings to arrive each year. He was preceded in death by his father, John Bergmann, Jr., mother, Mary Bergmann and wife, Nancy Bergmann. He is survived by; sister, Christine and husband Gene Kaufman; daughter, Chante and husband Michael Dennis; son, Jon Scott Bergmann; grandchildren, Hannah, Christian, Taylor, Lucas, and Colton. His dogs Bear and Jack along with numerous cats will miss his companionship and many other family members and friends who love him will miss him. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to: Saving a Shelter Stray (non-profit dog rescue) PO Box 3094, Bandera, TX 78003 or the Freeman Fritts Animal Shelter (www.freemanfritts.com).
