Wilburn Hershel Williams,85, fondly known as Willie, passed away from this life on March 01, 2024, at his home in Center Point. He was born on April 27, 1938, in Estelline, Texas to Elmer and Jewel Dean Williams.
He served in the US Navy (1955 -1959) as an airman stationed in San Diego. After the military, he went on to attend business school. Willie worked as an aide for the VA Hospital and at the Fina Station.
On June 29, 1983, Willie married Phyllis Schmidtzinsky at the Long Branch Saloon in Kerrville. This was the first ever shotgun wedding in Kerrville with guns and all.
Willie had a passion for collecting guns and the history of them. He also participated in hole in the wall gunfighter shows, all over the state. He will be remembered for lending a hand to help anyone and everyone. He was a member of Thousand Hills Cowboy Church.
Wilburn is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Phyllis of Center Point; children, Jewel Dean Scott (JD) of Hondo, LaRhonda Burgers (Daryl) of Medina, April Markham (Darren) of Center Point, Amber Youngblood of Santa Anna, Tonya Bishop (Donny) of Center Point, Brook Williams, Tyler Williams and Devin Willams, all of Center Point; 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Lavena Dill (Ken) of Perryton, Jackie Meek of Perryton, and Joyce Littlejohn of Stillwell, OK; also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded by his parents; son, Chris Schmidtzinsky; grandchild, Angelina McCracken; great grandson, Jacob Calderon; siblings, Bernice Schilling, Shirley Barger, and Jimmy Dean Wiliams.
Celebration of life will be held on April 27, 2024, with the time and location to be determined.
