Allen Roy Gomes

Allen Roy Gomes, 69, passed away at Peterson Health on Thursday, October 4, 2018, after a lifelong battle with health problems. Allen and his twin brother, Alfred were born in Los Banos, California. The youngest of 4 children, Allen would describe his childhood like the movie the Outsiders. He considered himself to be a "greaser" full of adventures and always looking for trouble. Allen was a foreman for Rampart Construction, building fireplaces all over Southern California. Anytime we would drive near any of his jobs he would always be so proud to point out all his creations. Later in life Allen owned his own landscaping company, and then for 12 years he owned and operated a successful snow cone business in Costa Mesa, California. Due to health issues, he relocated to Kerrville, Texas in 2001 to be closer to his family. Allen has been a father figure and role model to his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was the pillar of the family. He was predeceased by his parents, Jolly and Ruby Stapleton; brother, Danny Myers and sister, Sherry Thompson. Those left to cherish his memory are his step mother, Patricia Stapleton of Kerrville; his 3 daughters, Angela North of Kerrville, Sherry Gomes of Riverside, California, Cary Barton and her husband, Jason of Kerrville; his son, Allen Thompson and wife Lindy of Comfort. He is also survived by his niece, Jennifer Guido and her husband Chris of Kerrville; and 12 grandkids, 7 great grandkids and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, many beloved family and friends. Allen's family expresses their deepest gratitude towards all his devoted doctors, nurses and the compassionate care by Peterson Health, who helped his passing be as peaceful as possible. Dad, you will always be the wind beneath my wings. Per Allen's request, he will be cremated, and the family will hold a private celebration of life in his honor.
