Betty Vegter Obituary

Betty Ann Vegter, 86 of Kerrville, Texas passed away January 04, 2017. She was born Milwaukee, Wisconsin on August 03, 1930 to Joseph Raminger and Mary Wagner Raminger. Betty graduated from Rufus King High School in Milwaukee. She married Gerald Vegter in Milwaukee in December 1949. For a short time, Betty worked at the first Kohl's Supermarket in Milwaukee for the owner Maxwell Kohl. Most of her career was spent working and retiring from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wisconsin. After retirement, Betty and Jerry moved to Kerrville in October 1988. Here they became active in the Elk Lodge, being especially fond of helping on bingo nights. They also served together as volunteers at the Kerrville VA Hospital. She and Jerry enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii. They also spent many weekends with family and friends at their travel trailer parked at a lake near West Bend, Wisconsin. Her hobbies included crocheting, garage sales and reading. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; her parent; sister, Bernice Thompson and husband Eugene; brother, Ralph Raminger and wife Gladys; son in law, Ronald McBride. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl McBride; daughter, Karen Luebke and husband Richard; four grandchildren, Heather Amsden and husband Paul, Erik McBride and wife Lauren, Ryan Luebke and wife Katy, Aaron Luebke and wife Sherry; six great grandchildren, Justin Amsden, Cade, Morgan, Grant and Landon Luebke and Liam McBride. The family wishes to include a special thank you to Peterson Home Health Palliative Care and Hospice. Services will be held at a later date at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove, where she will join her beloved husband, Jerry.
