Edith Schellhase Fourton

Edith Schellhase Fourton passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017. Edith was born in George West on Aug. 14, 1931 to Alex and Helen Schellhase. Edith was the oldest child followed by three brothers. She graduated high school in Temple and moved with the family to Kerrville. Edith attended Schreiner Institute and began dating Francis Fourton (Pete) who loved across the street. The two eloped and were married in Austin on October 16, 1950. Edith and Pete moved to Azle in 1961 and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in their home. Edith was a positive thinker, creative and imaginative. She had a playful sense of humor which she maintained until the end. Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Pete; son, Richard Fourton and brother, Joe Schellhase. Edith is survived by her daughter and son in law, Ellen Fourton and Stephen Herman; grandson, Mason Fourton and great grandson Gannon Fourton. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters in law, Walter and Barbara Schellhase, Bill and Shirley Schellhase and cousin, nieces and nephews. The family sincerely appreciates the love and kindness of neighbors and friends in Azle. Without their compassion and assistance Edith could not have stayed at home. Graveside service will be held at Center Point Cemetery on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017 at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to the charity of your choice.
