Lavona Wagner Obituary

The Lord has called her home, Lavona Jean Wagner, 83, passed from this life into heaven on March 22, 2018. Lavona was preceded in death by her best friend and husband, William "Bill" Wagner, her eldest son, Rickey Dean, younger brother, Charlie and sisters, Betty and Wilma. Survivors include son, David Lee Wagner, son Randall Eugene Wagner and spouse Veronica; granddaughter, Angela Wagner; grandson, William Ryan Wagner and spouse Darcy; and great grandson, William Corbin Wagner. She is also survived by sisters, Evelyn, Kay, Ruth, Carol, LaDonna; brother, Gale and numerous nieces and nephews, great and grand alike. Lavona was born May 2, 1935 in St. Louis, MO to Ethel and Charles Slack, being the fourth born out of ten. As a young girl in a large family, she took on caretaking responsibilities from the start as her dad was a long haul truck driver, rarely home, trying to provide for his family. Throughout her years as a child, she unselfishly helped her mother with not only her siblings, but with numerous household chores. But to hear her put it, it wasn't a chore at all. It was done with love, for family was everything to her. At the age of 15, she met and fell in love with Bill Wagner resulting in 54 wonderful years of marriage. Their unbreakable bond provided them the willingness to do whatever it took for each other and their sons. Before her passing, Bill and Lavona were married for a total of 68 years in spirit and soul. A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Lavona put her family first and would always have a shoulder and an ear to lend a friend or stranger who needed it. Memorial service will be held Saturday, April 7th at her home in Mountain Home. For details and directions, please contact Ryan Wagner (830-377-3156). In lieu of flowers, the family asks to please consider making a donation to a facility of your choice that earnestly helps fill the needs of patients with mental health disorders as she was so involved with trying to find help for her first born son.
