Allen Hicks Obituary

Allen Hicks, 78, gained his wings on March 12, 2022. He was born on Jan. 07, 1944, in Palmer, Texas to Elmo Hicks and Lonnie Mae Thomas. Allen graduated from the Doyle School in Kerrville. During his life, he was married to Vicki Frazier (1969-1984) and Shelly Smith in 1995.

Allen was a proud member of the Kerrville All-Stars Negro Baseball team, he spent his young adult years living out a dream of playing baseball, traveling with the team, and playing in front of crowds. On August 12, 2016, Allen and his fellow teammates were inducted into the Negro Baseball League Hall of Fame. Allen went on to become a Sergeant in the US Army from 1966-1973. After the military, he drove a truck for several years, working in the Phoenix, Arizona area.

He enjoyed playing golf and could be seen cruising around town on his motorcycle. The most important time spent for Allen was with his family and friends. Allen enjoyed life for what it was and made the best out of the time he shared with us. He has truly touched many people and he may be gone, but he will never be forgotten. He lives on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Adrian Hicks; and siblings, Dorothy Benson, Alberta Hicks, Ella Mae, Frances Richards, Elmore Hicks Jr., Henry Lee (Kincheloe) Hicks.

He leaves in mourning his children, Terri Hudson, Vennessa (Troy), Willie (Kovette), all of Killeen, Allah (Cynthia) of San Diego Ca., Anthony Smith, Yvonne Allena Brazell; stepchildren, Marie Chantel Ross Hobson and Gabriel Sheldon Ross; siblings Vivian Rae Green (Michael), Bearline Payne (Charlie), Maceo (Carolyn) and Delphane McNair, all of Kerrville, Earl Lee (Ruth) of El Paso; Grandchildren Raquel, Garry, Terra Hudson, Lavelle, and Joseph Jackson, Adrienne C Hicks, Ehrielle Flose (Alex), and Brian L Hicks, Ivanna Hicks, Deserae Hicks, Allah Jr, Masta, Alijah, Vennessa, Allen Martine Hicks, LeAndre and Demonaye Rector; step-grandchildren Adriel Villavicencio, Eli and Emari Hobson, Ariyah and Nine Bey Ross; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
