Barbara M. Coleman, 90, (affectionately known as Grandma “C” by her 7 grandchildren) a resident of The Villages at Windcrest in Fredericksburg, died on October 28, 2024.
She was born on November 6, 1933 in Irvington, NJ, the daughter of the late Theron and Mary Thompson. She received her bachelor’s degree from Newark State Teachers College in Newark, NJ.
Barbara was briefly employed as an elementary school teacher before leaving the profession to start a family, raising four sons and a daughter in Scotch Plains, NJ. In 1983, Barbara and her late husband, Robert, relocated to the Spruce Creek Fly-In in Port Orange, FL, where she lived before relocating to Texas in 2020.
While in Florida, Barbara was an active volunteer with Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach, FL, serving as a captain of the hospital’s volunteer pool.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Robert, and two sons, Robert and Michael. She is survived by two sons and their wives, Steven and Diane Coleman of Howard Beach, N.Y. and Thomas and Rhonda Coleman of Spring, Texas; a daughter and her husband, Karen and Ricky Adams of Fredericksburg, TX; a daughter in law, Laurie Coleman of Elizabethtown, PA; and seven grandchildren, Amy, Shelli, Ashley, Emily, Hannah, Christopher and Lauren.
There will be no funeral service.
