Betty Joyce Lewis, age 85, of Ingram, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026, in Kerrville, Texas.
She was born on September 28, 1940, in Clinton, Minnesota, to Hal and Maxine Meyer. Betty graduated from Glasgow High School in Montana and went on to attend college, where she pursued work in the medical field prior to marriage.
On June 9, 1959, she married the love of her life, Charles Freeman Lewis. As a devoted military wife, Betty dedicated her life to supporting her husband and raising her family, embracing the many moves and experiences that came with military life. Her strength, adaptability, and unwavering commitment to her family were evident in all she did.
Throughout her life, Betty also worked in various roles, including at JC Penney and at a Methodist church, where she enjoyed serving others and being part of her community. She lived in Columbia City, Indiana for many years before relocating to Ingram, Texas about ten months ago to be closer to her family.
Betty will be remembered for her gentle spirit and her devotion to her family.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Freeman Lewis, and her parents, Hal and Maxine Meyer.
She is survived by her son, Greg Lewis and wife Kathy; her siblings, Caryl Forbes and husband Colonel Lee J., Barbara Link and husband Dan, and Janie Lindstrom and husband Walt; her grandchildren, Dale Lewis, Amber Polson, Melissa Lane, Michelle Platz, and Kaylea Plew; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Her family will forever cherish the love, guidance, and memories she leaves behind.
