In the late hours of Wednesday, March 20, 2024, Betty Nell Lunsford, 86, passed away peacefully while staying with family in Center Point, TX. She was surrounded by loved ones and listening to gospel music as she entered the Kingdom of the Lord.
Betty was born to Doss and Maggie Reynolds, on June 27, 1937, in Blum, Texas. Betty married her beloved husband, Lester O. Lunsford, on June 12, 1954. They were together 58 years before he passed in 2012. Together, they had a daughter, Peggy Nelda, and a son, Mitchell Gene.
Betty and Lester bought their home on Honey Ln. in North Richland Hills, Texas, in 1958. There, she raised her family and spent her life as a homemaker. She was a sweet southern soul who often greeted those she met as "sugar" and "hun". Betty, also known as Granny, took pride in caring for her grandchildren, relatives, and friends. She enjoyed crafting, collecting various treasures, and tending to her pets. She also loved to journal and take photographs documenting her daily activities.
Together, Betty and Lester lived to serve the lord and lend a helping hand to those in need. Their support and kindness made a difference for their family and friends in the community. They also donated to numerous charities and organizations throughout the country.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Lunsford; her father and mother, Doss and Maggie Reynolds; five sisters, Mary Rosalee (Rosey), Eunice, Neva, Edna, and Josie; and three brothers, William, Odell, and James Leonard.
She will be remembered by her daughter, Peggy Williams (Paul) of Lake Worth; son, Mitchell Lunsford (Mary) of Keller; five grandchildren: Paul, Laurie, and Mitchell Williams, Taylor Lipka, and Lyndsey McCoy; great-grandchildren: Lex and Jett Lipka and Gabrielle Williams; her sister, Jessie Margaret (Ret), as well as nieces, nephews; and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Monday, March 25, at Wright’s Funeral Parlor in Kerrville, TX.
A Graveside service will be held at noon on Friday, March 29th, at Derden Cemetery in Covington, TX. The family plans to hold an additional celebration of life at a future date to honor Betty and Lester in the Fort Worth area.
