Caleb Black Obituary

Caleb Patton Black, 20, of Boerne, Texas, passed away on January 31, 2025, in San Marcos, Texas. He was born on June 18, 2004, in College Station, Texas, to his loving parents, Clayton and Laura Black.

Caleb spent most of his life in Boerne, where he grew into a kind-hearted, intelligent, and compassionate young man. A 2022 graduate of Champion High School, Caleb pursued his passion for learning, earning an Associate of Science in Engineering from San Antonio College. He was currently attending Texas State University, continuing his studies and building a future filled with promise.

Caleb had a special gift for connecting with children and helping them learn. He worked at Mathnasium, where he shared his love for education, inspiring young minds with patience and encouragement. His dedication to mentorship extended beyond academics—he was a youth leader at Leon Springs Baptist Church, where he made a meaningful impact on many lives. In 2022, Caleb committed his life to Christ and was a continual warrior for God’s Kingdom, striving to live out his faith with love, purpose, and devotion.

Beyond his academic and mentoring achievements, Caleb was known for his kind spirit, his unwavering faith, and his ability to bring joy to those around him. He had a brilliant mind and a deep love for problem-solving, especially when it came to Rubik’s cubes and other puzzles. He found joy in music, bodybuilding, and the thrill of roller coasters at Fiesta Texas. A passionate reader, he especially loved the works of Tolstoy. Mathematics was one of his greatest joys—he had a particular love for calculus and the beauty of numbers. But most of all, Caleb cherished his role as a big brother, always offering love, guidance, and unwavering support.

Caleb is survived by his loving parents, Clayton and Laura Black; his siblings, Ashley, Daniel, Lincoln, and Justus Black; as well as numerous grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.

A service to honor and celebrate Caleb’s life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Leon Springs Baptist Church (LSBC). In honor of Caleb’s favorite color, attendees are encouraged to wear something purple.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to LSBC Youth Ministry Camp, which was close to Caleb’s heart. He loved and cared deeply for the youth there, and camp was a place where he felt nearest to God.

Though his time with us was far too short, Caleb’s impact will last a lifetime. He will forever be remembered for his warm heart, his love for learning, and the light he brought to so many lives.
