Cecil Jacob Farris passed from this life to be with the Lord on July 20, 2023 at his home in Ingram, Texas. Cecil was born on June 19, 1934, to Fred and Martha Farris in Van Buren, Missouri.
Cecil lived in Van Buren throughout his childhood and attended school there. As a young adult Cecil moved to California where he resided most of his adult life. He attended community college in Azusa, California and afterward, began a long career in the field of electronics and computers. He was known to be a diligent worker and a quick learner. Cecil’s career grew and he was promoted to quality control manager. One of Cecil’s greatest lifelong passions was his faith. He loved the Lord and his churches, serving as an assistant pastor and Sunday school teacher. Cecil loved people, especially little children, and was known for his kindness to animals. Those who knew Cecil will affirm that his quick wit and dry sense of humor made him one of the kind.
He married Hansen (Helen) Shih in 1983, they lived and worked in California and enjoyed RVing together across the West Coast and beyond. After Helen retired, they traveled in their RV fulltime for four and half years before settling down in Texas where Cecil resided the remainder of his days in Ingram.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Fred and Martha, a sister, Freda and three brothers, Eugene, Paul and David.
He is survived by his wife, Hansen (Helen) Farris; daughter, Diane Jones; son, Brian S. Farris and grandsons, Michael Jones and Brian Jones and one great grandson.
