Charlie Michel Obituary

(SERVICE PENDING)

Charlie Frank Michel, 78, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on the evening of Aug 23, 2024, in Kerrville. Born on Dec. 14, 1945, in San Angelo to the late, Rev. Russell Lynch and Dora Mae Michel. He met and married the love of his life Patricia “Patty” McElrath on Sept. 25, 1983, in San Angelo.

Charlie grew up in San Angelo and made it his home for most of his life. He dedicated over 30 years to the City of San Angelo as the supervisor for the city transit department. During his time in the transit department, Charlie met several people and impacted numerous lives. He was always willing to help others in time of need; he would purchase bus passes for those less fortunate people. One family had lost everything and was really in need, Charlie gifted them passes for a year. He touched the family so much they ended up naming their youngest daughter after him. He will be remembered for having a servant’s giving heart.

Gospel music always played a big part in Charlie’s life, from participating in Melody Makers choir, singing at church or just listening at home. He found peace and comfort from music. Charlie was still praising Jesus from his hospital bed days before his passing. His love for Jesus Christ was very important to him and the relationship he built in his faith.  He was a devoted member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in San Angelo and when he moved to Ingram in 2019, he began attending New Hope Fellowship.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patty; brother, Russell Michel; sisters, Lena Lois Lowery Dunlap, JoAnn Chambers and Genevive Duffy.

Charlie is survived by his son, Christopher Michel and wife, Tanaia of Ingram; grandsons, Christian, Joel and Sean; great grandson, Ash; and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.
