Christine Crider Obituary

Christine Henley Crider, 86, of Kerrville, Texas, peacefully entered the arms of her Savior on March 3, 2026. Known for her quiet strength, boundless kindness, and unwavering faith, Christine lived a life marked by love—for her family, her neighbors, and the Lord.

She was a loving mother to Roy Matthew Crider, Sr., Jody Lynn Crider, Audrey Gail Crider, Janice Diane (Crider) Henley and her husband William Karl Henley, Thaddeus Crider, Samson Lee Crider, Margaret Ann “Macy” (Crider) Starr, and Allan Roger Crider. She leaves behind 25 grandchildren and countless great- and great-great-grandchildren. Christine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thad James Crider Sr., her parents Fred Tyler Henley Sr. and Margaret Ann Morris Henley, and her siblings Earnestine Henley Hill, Fred Tyler Henley Jr., and Pauline Henley Paine.

Though she left school after the 11th grade, Christine’s greatest calling was caring for others—first as a nurse’s aide, and later as a pillar of comfort and prayer in her community. Her days were filled with the simple joys: reading inspirational romance novels, watching Gunsmoke, sipping coffee on her front porch, and tending to her beloved roses and purple wandering Jews. She delighted in the antics of neighborhood squirrels, birds, and deer—and never missed a chance to pray for anyone who crossed her path, whether family or stranger.

A faithful woman, Christine stood beside her late husband, a Pentecostal preacher, in ministry and service. Her home was always open, her heart always ready to listen, and her prayers always offered with hope.
