Christine Antoinette Philyaw

Christine Antoinette Philyaw at the age of 86 passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at River Hills Health & Rehab from a long battle of dementia. She was born on December 16, 1931 in Lufkin, Texas to Joseph and Easter DeStefano. Christine married John Henry Philyaw on March 21, 1959. She was the first class to graduate from Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital as a LPN. Christine decided to become a homemaker and raise 5 children. She is preceded in death by her husband John H. Philyaw, son John Jr, parents Joseph & Ester DeStefano, 4 brothers Vic, Sam, Pete & John, 5 sisters Owida, Josie, Mary, Ann & Phyllis. Christine is survived by 3 sons Joseph Philyaw, Michael Philyaw, & David & wife Pam Philyaw; 2 daughters Mary Root & husband Randy, Christina Lozano & husband Richard; 7 grandchildren Dustin Philyaw, Tristan, Philyaw, Jason Lozano and wife Emily, Jon Lozano, Brianna Bergman, Ashley Root & Brady Root; 6 great grandchildren Mallory, Natalie, Derek, Samson, Eli & Jason; 1 sister Sara and many other family members and friends who lover her will miss her. The family would like to thank the staff of River Hills Health & Rehab, Peterson home health care & Peterson Hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the charity of your choice. Christine would always say "Love you honey' or God bless you honey".
