Cleo Jane McCullough Hanssens went to be with her lord on October 13, 2024. She was a beloved christian, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend. She died in a Kerrville, Texas nursing home at the age of 97.
Born on July 27, 1927, Cleo was the daughter of Elvin and Vera McCullough of Mark, Iowa. After graduating from Bloomfield High School (Iowa), she worked as a teacher in a one room country schoolhouse, a factory worker, and a seamstress. She attended college in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Cleo was a longtime time resident and enthusiast of Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
She volunteered for many years in hospital gift shops in Arizona and California. Animal lover. Her hobbies included crocheting and quilting.
In 1957 she married Russell J. Hanssens in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Cleo is survived by her son, Russell J. Hanssens, Carrollton, Texas; daughter, Valerie Kreilick, Ingram, Texas; sister, Glenice Roberts , Lancaster , Missouri; granddaughter, Heather Harris, Leander, Texas; grandson, Justin Decker, Las Vegas, Nevada; grandson, Kyle Grey, Las Vegas, Nevada; and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by Russell J. Hanssens, husband; Vera Yvette Decker, daughter; Elvin McCullough, father; Vera McCullough, mother; sisters: L. Ione Pool, L. Ilene Carter, Leola Kinsler, Louise Acton, and Marilyn Mertens; brothers: Doyle McCullough and Franklin McCullough.
There will be no local service. Cleo will be buried in Lake Havasu City, Arizona in January 2025.
