Clyde Nolan Jr Obituary

Clyde Earvin Nolan Jr was born April 20, 1938 in Panola County, TX, the son of Clyde Earvin Nolan Sr and Jewel Amanda Kyle, and passed away on July 22, 2024 in Kerrville, TX.  He attended high school in San Antonio and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering at The University of Texas.  Clyde married Roberta Jo Redmon and worked several years in the oilfields of West Texas for Texaco.  At age 27 he was the youngest manager for the MoHole Project, testing drill bits in Uvalde, TX.  He worked for Gray Tool, Brown & Root and then Homeco until Brown & Root convinced him to return and Clyde spent the remainder of his long career there where he led a team of marine engineers and designers pushing the envelope of engineering and construction for advanced drilling systems, subsea pipelines and offshore oil production facilities.

After retirement Clyde and Roberta moved to Leakey, TX.  Clyde became active in the local community and became a member of the water board, applying his project management skills to the maintenance and expansion of the local water supply.  He later became president of the board.  Clyde had a love of the outdoors and whether designing, building or repairing, he was always engaged with his neighbors to improve his community and the beautiful Frio River parks of Twin Forks.

Above all, Clyde was a dedicated family man and spent every moment he could enjoying his grandchildren.  An avid outdoorsman, he taught them to fish and hunt and shared his passion for nature.  He was known for his sense of humor, good-natured outlook on life and deep love of family and friends.

Clyde is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Bennie Carol Luke.  He is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Roberta Jo Nolan; daughter Gwynneth Nolan Zion and husband Jeff of Junction, TX; son Kyle Nolan and wife Jennifer of Tallahassee, FL; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
