Cynthia Wright Obituary

Cynthia Wright, retired on June 27, 2022 to join her Heavenly father. She was born Sept. 25, 1958, in Sterling City to Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Jack Wright. Cynthia grew up in West Texas and moved to Irving when she was a teen. The family moved again to Canton in 1972. She would spend summers with her grandmother in Kerrville. In 1977, Cynthia worked in a sewing factory making clothing for JC Penny and Wool Worth. She loved to sew and create clothes for her daughter and other family members. In 1989, Cynthia joined the US Navy and was stationed in Mirimar, California "Top Gun" and worked on the flight deck and the bomb “Farm”. She served during the first Desert Storm and was proud to be a veteran. Once honorably discharged in 1994, she moved to Kerrville to live closer to her parents. Cynthia was a disabled veteran and the VA offered to pay for higher education given her age at the time. She started at Schreiner University in 1996 for Business. She never felt that was her calling and decided to ask the VA for a change in degree. She entered the Mortuary Science program of San Antonio College in the fall of 1996 and graduated May 1998 with an Associate’s degree. Cynthia started her apprenticeship at Mission Park North and finished with Sizemore Funeral Home in Kerrville. After 2 years of employment with Sizemore, Cynthia had the option to purchase the business and in July 2000, it became Wright’s Funeral Parlor.  She always felt the funeral business was home to her and she was honored to help others during one of the most difficult times they would face.  Cynthia was so proud to hand the business off to her daughter in 2019; they both had worked together for 16 years building a family business to serve others.

In her private life, she was a dedicated mom to Melissa and Robert, always making sure they had everything they needed. She was the best Mime to all her grandchildren. The kids always loved to make her laugh and to hear her snort. Mime made sure to attend all the school events and was the loudest fan cheering on her kids and grandsons. She collected elephants and if you truly knew her you know the amount of the collection. She also had a vast collection of movies, "our personal Blockbuster". Cynthia was known for her stylish jewelry. She felt even having to wear dark colors that her jewelry could be bold and make a statement. She loved music and to sing. She was a devoted Christian and loved going to church. If the doors to the church were open, she was there. Her children loved when they were younger because she would be the Sunday school and Junior’s teacher and she always made it a fun time. Over the last few years, she became a member of Sunrise Baptist and enjoyed their music program.

She will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, mother, mom, Mime, Madea, proud business owner and friend.

Cynthia is preceded in death by her father, Bobby Jack Wright, her paternal grandparents, MA and Cristeen Wright and maternal grandparents, HC and Stella Dunn.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Melissa Hernandez and Victor, Robert Puckett; grandchildren, Kristina, Nicholas, Desiree, Cale, Taylor, Isabella and Audrey; great grandchildren, Micah, Kensley and Royce; bonus granddaughter, Trista; mother, Carolyn Wright; brother, William Wright and family; also, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
