Donald "Don" Dale Wilson

Donald Dale Wilson MD, 90, died peacefully at River Point, Kerrville, June 22, 2026.

Don was born in Matador, Texas to Gladis Wilson and Gladys (Spears), grew up in Littlefield and is a proud graduate of Baylor College of Medicine. Don's career in Physical Medicine is particularly notable for long and caring relationships with patients whose lives he took great pride in improving. 

A lifelong enthusiasm of travel and scuba was cemented by Don's UDT experience during service as Lieutenant Commander and medical officer on the submarine USS Henry Clay and participation in SeaLab.

Friends, family and beloved pets are consistent themes throughout Don's life as are music, travel, good food and an occasional bad joke.

Don retired from medical practice in Texas and California some years ago to live out his dream back in Texas on a cattle ranch surrounded by the sprawling Hill Country that moved him so much.

Don and his wife anticipated the yearly return of the Kerrville Folk Festival where they could often be found with a good view of the stage and a delicious glass of wine. He cultivated his love of Mexico and respect for its citizens and culture with frequent travel and stays. He could often be found navigating the cobblestone streets of colonial cities that entranced him like San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato. 

Don is survived by sons David, Jefferson, daughter Ronnie Dale, his sister Doretta, and wife Pamela Haylock.

A private remembrance will be held by family and friends at a later date.
