Felix Val Verde Lopez, 69, of Brackettville, passed away on April 10, 2026, in Kerrville. He was born on August 14, 1955, in Del Rio to Gregorio and Francisca (Val Verde) Lopez.
Felix spent over 20 years as a long-haul truck driver, where he found joy in traveling and taking in the beauty of the country. Before that, he grew up ranching alongside his father, George, which sparked his lifelong love for roping and horses.
He was a proud rodeo dad, not only to his own children but to many others he encouraged along the way. One of his greatest joys was watching his grandchildren enter the arena each moment filling him with pride.
Felix was a man of strong faith who deeply loved his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gregorio Lopez Jr.
Felix is survived by his children, Greg Lopez (Courtney) of Utopia and Linda Boyd (Kevin) of Vanderpool; his siblings, Paul Lopez (Linda) of Seguin, Robert Lopez (Marta) of Georgetown, Praxedis Aguirre (Juan), Paula Samaniego (Daniel) of Brackettville, and Jesusita Lopez of Brackettville; his grandchildren, Dalton Boyd (Kendal), Haleigh Boyd, Delaney Boyd, all of Vanderpool, and Zanna Lopez of Utopia; his great-grandchild, Carter Boyd of Vanderpool; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Utopia Park in Utopia, Texas.
