Gary Lee Ruble, 81, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away on February 4, 2025. He was born on February 1, 1944, in Hoisington, Kansas, to Johnnie Monroe Ruble and Opal Love Ruble.
Gary graduated from Hoisington Rural High School, Class of 1962. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant (SSgt - E5) from June 1962 to June 1970. Following his military service, he built a career in criminal investigation with the Internal Revenue Service, where his dedication and integrity left a lasting impact.
Before settling in Kerrville a year and a half ago, Gary lived in Valdosta, Georgia. He had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed baseball, fishing, bowling, hunting, and camping. His adventurous spirit and passion for these activities brought joy to his life and those around him.
Gary married Guadalupe Torre Ruble on March 4, 1965, and they shared 21 years together before separating in 1986. She passed away on September 8, 2015.
Gary is survived by his daughter, Toni Ruble-Velez; grandchildren, Amber Marie Velez, Ashley Nicole Velez, Austin Louis Monroe Velez, and Alex Sebastian Velez; and great-grandchildren, Eain, Johnathan, Seth Ebbe, Alaura Sosa, and Jay Acosta.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie M. Ruble (January 10, 1911 – February 19, 1991); his mother, Opal Love Ruble (December 9, 1916 – September 24, 2004); his sister, Judith A. Stevenson (February 4, 1940 – June 19, 2011), life partner of 37 years, Sara Greene Deuley (October 25, 1942 – April 8, 2022); and his ex-wife, Guadalupe Torre Ruble (December 12, 1945 – September 8, 2015).
Gary will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His kindness, wisdom, and love for family will forever be cherished in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
