Ida May Simpson, our dear, beloved mother gained her Angel wings at the young age of 86 yrs. old. She passed from this life on September 8th,2023. Ida spent her last 3 months with family and friends in the home of her daughter Barbara and son-in law, Mark Esensee., in Fredericksburg, Texas.
Ida was born in Madison, Wisconsin on August 10th, 1937, to parents, Arne and Alice Mosby. They resided in Madison Wisconsin and raised their two daughters, Ida May and Mary Anne Mosby.
After graduating from Madison HS, Ida obtained her first job working downtown Madison with Southwestern Bell (as mom called it” Ma Bell”). She worked at “Ma Bell” for a few years, before meeting her young Scotsman, Air Force Airman, Robert M Simpson, (better known as Scotty), 6 months after starting to date, she married her True Love, on September 12th, 1958.
Ida being a military wife, had the opportunity to travel with her husband and four children to England, France, back to Wisconsin, Ohio, Panama Canal Zone, Alabama, Illinois and finally Austin, Texas where they bought a home. Scotty, the Love of her life passed in August 2003, and she remained in their home for 50 yrs.
Ida’s pride and joy was always her 4 children. “Whether she agreed with us or not or we with her, she loved us all unconditionally”, states her daughter, Barbara. She adored and loved her grandchildren. She always doted on them, what was done for one, was done for all!
Ida didn’t know a stranger. She loved to laugh, tell stories, spoil her animals, shop, go out to eat, loved sweets in the morning with her coffee and a glass of wine with her dinner. Ida enjoyed entertaining, drawing and dancing. Ida would also offer anyone that walked in her door a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. She loved drinking a glass of wine with her older grandchildren, laughing with them and sharing stories of the past. She was very proud of her Norwegian heritage.
Ida will always be remembered as a strong willed and very proud woman, mother, and grandmother! She’s going to be greatly missed by all. Her kindness and love will continue through her children.
