James "Jim" Travis Hancock, 85, of Kerrville, Texas passed away on February 1st, 2022. His wonderful smile, positive attitude and willingness to help everyone he knew were a beacon of light to his community.
Jim was born on August 9th, 1936, in McLennan Co., Texas, the son of Sylvia Alford Hancock and Travis Benjamin Hancock. He attended Milby High School and Texas A&M University, his alma mater that he loved very much.
Jim lived many years in Houston and Dallas, before settling in the Texas Hill Country. He worked as a sales representative for a professional audio equipment company, and owned his own irrigation design and installation company in Dallas and Fredericksburg.
Jim loved woodworking, devising unique one-of-a-kind creations for his friends and family. He often spent long hours in his workshop making furniture, bookshelves, or anything else someone needed. Jim also enjoyed cooking and photography as hobbies. He was a member of the Fredericksburg Bible Church.
An avid animal lover, Jim always had cats and dogs around his house. Two of his favorites were his dog Copper, and later his cat Cooper.
He was formerly married to Shirley Gillespie-Adler, the mother of his children.
Jim is survived by his daughter Kelli Ann Garcia and husband Eduardo, and grandsons Simon and Sebastian of Bellaire, Texas; and Jennifer Ann Del Tatto and husband John, and grandsons Nicolas and Christian of Bellaire, Texas. He was incredibly proud of his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Sylvia Hancock and Travis Hancock.
A private graveside ceremony will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Greenwood Cemetery in Fredericksburg, Texas.
