James Marion Crockett, Jr., “Jim” left this earth on May 29th, 2024 in Kerrville. He was born in Fort Worth on October 30, 1956, to James Marion Crockett and Willie Louise Crockett. Jim married the love of his life, Laurie Adams, in a small ceremony in Las Vegas in 2007.
Jim grew up in Midland after the family relocated from Fort Worth in 1958. He attended schools in the Midland ISD from the First Grade all the way through to High School Graduation in 1975 from Robert E. Lee High School. He graduated from DeVry University-Texas in 1977.
In 2017, Jim and his wife Laurie, settled in Center Point, after living in Austin and Dripping Springs together. He has lived in Amarillo and Round Rock as well.
Jim founded Telecom Support Services and partnered with Telephone Distributors, eventually purchasing the company in 2005, and thus beginning 19 years in business as Crockett Communications with his business partner and wife, Laurie. Jim was an expert technician, loved and trusted by his customers, many of whom formed lifelong friendships with their “phone guy”. Their business together will carry on in his honor and his memory with the impeccable reputation that has been built over these many years.
Over the years Jim helped with VHWSC, Verde Hills Water Supply Corporation, their neighborhood community well organization, volunteering as needed and serving on the Board of Directors first as Vice President and then as President.
Jim enjoyed time spent outdoors, fishing, golfing, camping and gardening. He loved to eat and to cook, mostly grilling, and he watched hours of YouTube videos to hone his grilling and barbecue skills.
Jim had a passion for animals and animal rescue. In his younger years, he played baseball and in high school he was a star pole vaulter of the high school’s track team.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Lou Crockett; grandparents, John L and Julia Thiebaud and LM and Edna Crockett, and several aunts and uncles.
Jim is survived by his wife, Laurie; stepdaughter, Heather Walsh Sadler (Jake) of Amarillo; daughter, Keli Nicole Geraty (Joe) of Euless; son, James Marion Crockett III – “Trey”- of Wichita, KS; siblings, Debbie Crockett Kerr (Ed) of Austin, Cindy Crockett Brooks (Tom) of Evant, and David Michael Crockett (Pam) of Gatesville; nieces, Lee Williams (Trey) and Sarah Crockett (fiancé, Mike); nephews, Evan Brooks (Callie) and Gavin Crockett (Tiffany); grandchildren, Walsh Sadler of Amarillo, Guy Sadler of Amarillo, Charlotte Watson of Euless, Wyatt Geraty of Euless, and Graham Geraty of Euless. Laurie and the entire family are shocked and devastated but will announce information for a Celebration of Life for Jim, in the not too distant future. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Addicus Legacy Dog Rescue.
