Jay Chatfield

Jay Chatfield, 63, flew free from this life on August 22, 2023, from his home in Placitas, New Mexico after a brief courageous battle with colon cancer.

Jay was a loyal husband and old hippie at heart.  He was a creator of expression from the early days of carpentry work to later in life furniture making and silversmith. Jay was creating beautiful pieces of work until his last day on this earth. Jay along with his wife, Sherri, were the owners of the Copper Cactus in Ingram (2000-2010).  He has a large following on Instagram sharing his life journey and his art too.  Jay enjoyed fishing, golfing at Schreiner, riding his Harley and creating in his studio.

He was preceded by his parents.

Jay is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Sherri Chatfield of Hunt; his sister, Sandy Chatfield; his son, Jason Kline; mother-in-law, Sue Kaplan.

Celebration of life gathering will be held from 10am -11 am, Aug. 22, 2024, at Wright’s Funeral Parlor with refreshments to enjoy during the time spent together. All are welcome to come and celebrate Jay’s life and share memories.  Private interment will be at Nichols Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest, while his spirit continues to soar!!!
