Due to the declining economy, he was laid off, so Jerry went to work at the Vernon State Hospital working as a CNA for 5 years and later was employed by United Regional Health Care Systems for 18 years as an Orthopedic Tech. Due to his declining health, he was lid off. At that point time, the decision was made to move to Kerrville to be closer to their son's family. Somewhere in all of this, after a year of intensive study, he became a licensed massage therapist.
Jerry was actively involved in the Electra Chapter of the Lion's Club serving as President for 2 years. He also served as President of the Electra Little League Baseball for 2 years and co-coached Greg's team.
