Jessie O’Dell Baxter, 66, of Medina passed away from this life on April 24, 2023, in Kerrville. He was born on March 02, 1957, in Big Lake to Tressie Gertrude and Alvin O’Dell Baxter. He graduated from Medina High School and attended Southwest Junior College in Uvalde.
Jessie spent time working in the oilfields around Odessa and in construction as a general contractor. He also worked as the Director of Maintenance for Bandera Downs and Muleshoe Hospital. Later in Jessie’s life, he found his calling as a ranch hand with this allowing him to ride horses, which he loved to do. He was known for his detailed woodworking and would spend time tinkering on anything and everything he could get his hands on. He enjoyed time fishing, hunting, and cooking BBQ. He was a jokester and loved kidding around with everyone.
He is survived by his wife, Diana Fern Baxter (married in 2001) of Medina; children, VaCoesha Murphy, Jesse Baxter, Neshell Woods (Adam), Jedidiah Baxter (Taylor Guadarrama), Michael Johnson, Cailtin Johnson and Crystal Chadwick (Eric) ; several grandchildren; siblings, Linda Bingham, and Diana Maner; uncle and aunt, Jimmy and Jimmy May; nephew, Allan Moreland and Walter Smith; nieces, Stephanie Ayers and Monica Pittman; cousin, Debbie Taylor and sister-in-law, Sandy Robinson.
Jessie was preceded by his parents; sister, Suzie Janet Smith; and nephew John O’Dell Bingham.
