Jon Scott Bergmann

Jon Scott Bergmann, 41, died peacefully surrounded by loved ones on April 2, 2021, at Methodist Transplant Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.  

He was born on May 7, 1979, in Dallas, Texas.  He spent most of his life in the Hill Country and was a 1997 graduate of Harper High School. Shortly after graduating, Jon attended Texas State Technical School where he received a welding degree. As it turned out, Jon wasn’t very fond of welding and instead pursued a variety of odd jobs throughout his adult life. He had the innate ability to fix just about anything. He spent many years working with irrigation systems and other handyman types of work. Any chance he could get, you’d find him outside either working on a vehicle, repairing something, or smoking a cigarette while contemplating life. He had a lifelong passion for taking things apart and putting them back together just like his dad.

There were two sides to Jon. Most knew the funny, handsome, blue-eyed, life of the party. He always had a joke or a funny story and was up for anything. He made friends everywhere he went. Jon was a loving father, brother, and son. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, and animals of all kinds…especially his pets. He enjoyed fishing in the Gulf of Mexico and local rivers. He could often be found cruising the quiet back roads of the Hill Country in his old truck. For most of his adult life, Jon battled alcohol addiction. The disease had a powerful hold on him. We wish to recognize the friendly and fun-loving man that Jon was as he was not ready to leave this world. He yearned for a life without anxiety, addiction, and pain. The memory of his bright smile, quick wit, and unusual way of looking at the world will never be forgotten. Our broken hearts will forever feel the loss and emptiness of his absence.

He was preceded in death by his father, Patrick Bergmann, and mother, Nancy Bergmann. He is survived by; sister, Chante Dennis; daughter, Hannah Bergmann; sons, Kaleb Piszczor, Christian Bergmann, and Taylor Bergmann; granddaughter, Adelynne; and his girlfriend, Misti Wyatt.

A memorial service will be held on April 24, 2021, at Wright’s Funeral Parlor at 2 p.m. Following the memorial, meet us at the back porch of Pier 27 for a “final toast” to Jon.
