Joy Frances (Gillit) Moore

Joy Frances Gillit Moore died suddenly on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2022 in Kerrville of a brain aneurysm.

Joy was born on August 15, 1946 in Raymondville, TX to the late Morris Yerrington and Nora Belle Johnson Gillit. She graduated in 1965 from Lyford High School.

On June 6, 1973, she married the love of her life, Earl Lynn Moore. They were looking forward to celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary next year. They loved to travel, go to the beach, and spend time with family. Joy loved shopping and was never one to pass up buying a chicken or something for someone she cared about. 

Joy worked 40+ years at Pittman and Davis, a job and group of people she loved. Upon her reluctant retirement, Earl and Joy moved to Ingram to live closer to family.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Melvin Gillit and Nellis Jack Gillit.

She is survived by her loving husband, Earl; brother, Wendell Lynn and wife, Jeanelle Horkman Gillit of Nassau Bay; sister, Barbara Nell Gillit Blackwell and husband John (JC) of Harper; nieces, Jody Lynn Gillit, Gina Rae Gillit Foster, Ginger Ann Foster Shullanberger and Terri Lee Gillit Foster; nephews, Judson Wade Gillit and Gary Paul Gillit Foster; great-nieces, AnnaMarie Rose Gillit, Chelsie Shullanberger, Katharine Foster and Ashley Foster; and great-nephews, Allen wade Gillit, Ethan Alexander Gillit, Pololin Paulino-Foster, Charles Shullanberger and Paul Foster.

Earl brought to the marriage his own children, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly including, Edward Lynn Moore, Suzanne Marie McReynolds, Shane Henry Samples, Cheyenne Marie Martin and husband Joe.

A private family service will be held in the future. Memorial can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or charity of your choice.
