Kathleen “Kathy” LaRue Skinner (née Gaconnet) completed her physical journey on October 23, 2023, just in time to rejoin her husband on his birthday the following day. She was known for her delicious cooking at numerous restaurants. She was known for being Sid Skinner’s wife. She was known as the older lady who assisted you with herbs and crystals at Mystical Musings. But, for us, she was known as Mom and Nana… our friend, our confidant, someone we grew up with as she grew up. We experienced highs and lows, joys and sorrows. And through it all, she just looked to be a friend, to be accepted, to be appreciated, to experience all that it means to be Momma. One thing you may not know about her is how much she enjoyed playing Minecraft with her family! Even in the last 24 hours of her journey, as we all played in the same room with her, microphones on, laughing, bossing, screaming, jumping, … her granddaughter said “Mom get in a bed” and she, thinking she was actually playing the game, yells back toward the TV “I don’t have a bed!” Then becoming aware that she didn’t have a controller in her hand she looked around and said, with dry humor, “OH I’m already in a bed.” We laughed at her joke and kept gathering ‘food’ and putting things in their places. Thank you, Momma, for choosing us, for being our Mom, and for showing us that it’s okay to play in life, even when it hurts. She flies with Silver Wings with her husband Sid Skinner (not big, not lil), her daughter Teresa Ann Skinner, her grandchildren, Ashton Drake Hall, and James Dean Robinson Jr (J.J.). She leaves behind her sister, Pam Scharmen, her sibling-in-laws Cheryl, Robert, and Deanie, children, Adele Terry Robinson, Kathleen René Garza, and Sidney Skinner (Lil Sid), numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and this tree has so many branches we’re going to need some sugar cane to finish this world. Love you Most-est
