Kenda Nan Crowton

Kenda Nan Crowton, 72, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. Her life was marked by devotion to those she loved, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Kenda was born on December 8, 1953, in Lubbock, Texas, to Albert B. Hasty Sr. and Helen Euvon (Hargis) Hasty. As the daughter of a military serviceman, she experienced a childhood filled with adventure and new experiences as her family relocated frequently throughout her early years.

Dedicated to caring for others, Kenda earned her Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in 1985. Nursing became more than a career, it was a calling. On October 24, 1987, she married the love of her life, David Crowton, in San Antonio, Texas. Together they built a loving home in Kerrville, where they raised their three children and shared a life centered on faith, family, and service. Kenda devoted many years to caring for patients at Kerrville State Hospital, where her compassion, kindness, and unwavering commitment to others touched countless lives. She retired after a distinguished career that reflected her servant’s heart and dedication to those in her care.

Kenda found joy in life’s simple pleasures and had a special love for animals. She especially enjoyed taking her beloved dogs to the local dog park. She also delighted in the wildlife that surrounded her Kerrville home and could often be found feeding the deer that visited her yard. Before David’s passing, the two shared a love of travel, exploring destinations across the United States and creating treasured memories together.

Above all else, Kenda's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who treasured every moment spent with those she loved. Family cruises became some of her favorite adventures, and she never missed an opportunity to cheer on her grandchildren at their sporting events, karate tournaments, dance recitals, and band performances.

Her daily life reflected the close-knit family she so lovingly nurtured. Kenda treasured the simple moments spent with her children, finding great joy in playing games with her son, Joseph, sharing family dinners at the home of her son, DJ, and looking forward to special girls’ nights with her daughter, Kelly. These cherished gatherings, filled with laughter, conversation, and love, brought her immense happiness and were among the moments she held most dear.

Kenda is survived by her brother, Albert Hasty Jr. and wife, Flora Lynn; her sister, Peggy (Hasty) Green; her children, Gilbert Joseph Barron and wife, Rosann Barron, David Jared "DJ" Crowton and wife, Tracy Thias, and Kelly Leann Crowton and husband, Michael Decker; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; along with numerous nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Crowton; her parents, Albert B. Hasty Sr. and Helen Euvon (Hargis) Hasty.

A memorial service celebrating Kenda's life will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. A reception will immediately follow the service, where family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate a life well lived.

Though her gentle presence will be profoundly missed, Kenda’s legacy of love, compassion, and devotion to family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. The memories she created, the kindness she shared, and the love she gave so freely will remain a lasting source of comfort and inspiration to those fortunate enough to have been part of her life.
