Opal Lanetta Carr, 84, of Harper, TX went home to be with the Lord on August 10, 2024. She was born May 2, 1940 to Joe and Bertha Dillon in Roswell, NM. Lanetta was married to Willie Lee Carr on August 12, 1961. They are celebrating their 63rd anniversary together in heaven.
She worked as a proof operator for First National Bank in Lubbock and as a seamstress for Itasca Draperies. She was a member of the Homemakers Association, and a Girl Scout troop leader. Lanetta graduated from Wayland Baptist University on May 15, 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education and used her degree as a nursing home administrator for 15 years.
Lanetta was an avid reader, enjoyed writing short stories, and was a loyal Texas Tech sports fan.GO RAIDERS! She was a member of First Assembly of God in Paducah, Texas and then Wild Ride Ministries after moving to Harper, Texas. Her love for the Lord was evident in everything she did.
Survivors include: Sisters - Mary Stroud of Penelope, TX, Sue Middleton and her husband Randall of Robinson, TX, Loreda Shelton of Pine Bluff, AR and Oletta Hodges of Lubbock, TX; Sons Gregory Lee Carr of Harper, TX, Cregory Lynn Carr and his wife Mary of Chandler, TX , Daughter – Joy Elizabeth Freeman and her husband Jim of Harper TX; Grandchildren – Kevin Lee Carr and wife Courtney, Jennifer Lynn Williams and husband Matthew, Andrew Stephen Carr and wife Lorel, Stephanie Nicole Kelley and husband Marion, Austin James Rowe and wife Heather, Tori Barber and husband Ross, Jana Michelle Caldwell and husband Brent. Great grandchildren – Charley, Gus and Dianna Kelley, Ethan and Kaelyn Williams, Willow Carr, Grayson and Addison Carr, James Rowe, Riley and Kieran Barber and Avery and Landry Caldwell.
