Margaret "Peggy" Grider Obituary

Margaret Elizabeth “Peggy” Grider, 88, of Fredericksburg, Texas, passed away on March 27, 2026.

Peggy was born on December 8, 1937, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Margaret (Nuneviller) Breen. She was raised in Philadelphia where she graduated from St. Hubert Catholic High School for Girls.

On September 5, 1959, she married the love of her life, Grady Pat Grider, in Trevose, PA. Together they shared a devoted marriage and raised three children. As the wife of a United States Army serviceman, Peggy embraced the life of a military family with strength and grace. Their journey took them to many places over the years, and through it all, she created a warm and loving home wherever they were stationed. Her life was a testament to her deep love for her family and her quiet patriotism.

Following Pat’s retirement from the Army, they settled in Rison, Arkansas. In 2018, Peggy moved to the Texas Hill Country to be closer to her son Eric and his family while he was stationed in San Antonio.

Peggy was a devout Catholic and a lifelong member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. Her faith was the foundation of her life. She dedicated much of her time to serving others, volunteering with her church, the Red Cross, supporting military families, and participating as a proud Scout mom. She was known for her generous spirit and willingness to help anyone in need.

Her family remembers her as a wonderful cook who had a special gift for making a house feel like home. Her home was always a welcoming place, often the gathering spot for her children and their friends. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family.

She is survived by her children, Tammy Green and Eric Grider (Janet); her sisters, Elizabeth Esposito and Catherine Kemp; her grandchildren, Tamara Grider, Keleigh Buchanan, Collin Green, Salina White, Jack Grider, and Charlie Grider; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Grady Pat Grider; her parents; her son, John “Jack” Grider; and her brothers, Joe Breen, Jack Breen, Eddie Breen, and Frankie Breen.

Services will be held on a later date at St. Luke Catholic Church in Warren, Arkansas.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Hill Country Hospice, the staff at River Point Memory Care for their care, compassion, and support, and the United States Army.
