Maria Nilda Peña Rosa, 79, passed away from this life the morning of January 28, 2021, peacefully at her home in Fredericksburg. She was born on December 16, 1941 in Miguel Aleman Tamaulipas, Mexico to the late Enrique and Amanda Garza Pena. Maria grew up in Mexico then calling Fredericksburg home in 1971 when she married Amando Rosa.
She was a hard worker and raised seven girls. Even though Maria didn’t have much to give, she was a very giving person. She gave her time and enjoyed the company of many friends who she would simply sit down to chat with or invited them to enjoy her delicious cooking.
Maria is survived by her husband, Amando Rosa; daughters and their spouses: Mona Peña & Roberto Salazar, Maria & Raymond Cantu, Emma Scripps, Luz & Eduardo Castro, Patricia & Leon Rivera, Marisa Rosa & Angel Blanco, Melissa & Nissy Rosa; 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded her in death by her parents; brother, Rogelio Peña; sisters, Nole Treviño and Gilma Barerra and son in law, Robert P. Scripps, Jr.
A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers and to honor Nilda’s memory, be kind to others, smile more, and perform a random act of kindness.
