Marion Lee Redmon, 96, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, at the Kerrville VA Hospital. He was born October 21, 1929, in Junction City, Kansas, to Leo Roy Redmon and Katherine Brychta Redmon.
Marion proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. After his military service, he made Beaumont, his home, where he worked at the DuPont refinery. Over the years, Marion also owned a renovation company and later became a pilot instructor, sharing his love of flying with others.
A man of many talents, Marion was known as “Mr. Fix It” because there was truly nothing he could not repair. He was mechanically gifted and loved trucks, motorcycles especially riding them fast and airplanes. In his younger years, he developed a passion for photography and even processed and developed his own film. He enjoyed staying active, exercising regularly, and always keeping himself busy with a new project or challenge.
Marion had a sharp wit and a wonderful sense of humor. He loved to joke and make others laugh, yet those closest to him also knew his gentler, quieter side. He was a brilliant man with a kind heart and deep faith, and he loved attending church.
Marion met Deidre while they both attended a grief recovery group. At first, he would not even tell her his name, but he was deeply moved by the story she shared. As they spent more time together, Deidre often said God blessed her with Marion and the sense of security and comfort he brought into her life. She began cooking for him, and although the first roast dinner she made was less than perfect, Marion kindly complimented her anyway. Together, they found companionship, healing, and peace.
Marion and Deidre vacationed over the years in Kerrville and the beautiful Texas Hill Country. One year, during their stay at the YO Ranch Hotel, Hurricane Rita struck the Texas Gulf Coast, forcing them to extend their visit. They fell in love with the Hill Country, and in 2005, Marion and Deidre made Kerrville their home. Together, they enjoyed riding motorcycles throughout the Texas Hill Country with the Gold Wing Motorcycle Club, creating many treasured memories along the way.
Marion leaves behind his faithful and loving wife, Deidre Maxey Redmon; daughter, Janna Lee Redmon Satcher; son, Thomas Andrew Redmon and wife Elizabeth; grandchildren, Blake and Jordan Satcher, McKenzie Caldwell-Pope (Kentavious), and Raquel Redmon; great-grandchildren, Kenzo, KJ, Kendrix, Kendall, and Knowledge; stepchildren, Julie Bridges and husband Jeff, Andrew Maxey, Lon Maxey and wife Angie, and Theresa Phoenix; step-grandchildren, Bailey, Jace, Emily, Payton, Trista, Alex, Leila and Juliana; and step-great-grandchildren, Luke and Jasper.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 44 years, Janette Singletary Redmon; sister, Lorraine Jacqueline Walshak; and son-in-law, Danny Satcher; and granddaughter, Mikayla.
