Pedro Zuniga, 84, passed away on August 18, 2024, surrounded by his family in Center Point, TX. He was born on April 20, 1940, in Corpus Christi, TX to Guadalupe and Lorenzo Zuniga.
After growing up in Corpus Christi, Pedro went to California to live with the family he had there. During his time there he met the love of his life, Alicia. Soon after meeting they would move to Center Point, Texas in 1978. Once they were settled the two got married in September of 1983. Together they would raise 8 children and have a beautiful family.
Pedro worked for Peterson Middle School for 20 years in the janitorial department before going back to construction and carpentry until his retirement 22 years ago.
After retirement, Pedro spent his time volunteering at church, he even used his experience in construction to help build a new addition to the La Nueva Jerusalem Church. He was a great mentor to the younger generation of boys by being a Royal Ranger Scout leader.
At home, Pedro was a family man. He loved his family with all his heart and was referred to as a professional grandfather (Double G). Pedro loved to sing and dance, make music with his maracas, and most of all, losing arguments to his wife. His family loved his many catchphrases; “hijo esu” and “ay amalia” and “tenias frio chiquitita” and an all time favorite, the way he said “cheeseburger” when it was time for photos.
He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Pedro Zuniga, Jerry Gutierrez, and Larry Gutierrez; siblings, Janie Orosco and Gilbert “Beto” Rodriguez; grandchildren, Anthony Martinez, Pedro Zuniga III.
