Phillip Tomlinson Obituary

Phillip Aylett Tomlinson of Kerrville, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025, next to his wife Mary of 67 years.

Phil was born in Riviera, Texas on February 12, 1933, to parents Lillian and Jefferson Tomlinson. A lifelong Aeronautical engineer, he worked for Lockheed on the Apollo program in Redlands, California, Atlantic Research Corporation in Alexandria, Virginia, and finished his career consulting for the Italian space program. He loved his last six years of work spending half of the year in Italy and the other time at home in Vienna, Virginia. After he retired in 1993, Phil and Mary later moved to Kerrville in 2004.

Growing up in the Phoenix area Phil played football, basketball and baseball. He served his country proudly during the Korean War. After returning home he attended and graduated from Northrup University in Los Angeles, California. There he met and married his wife, Mary.

Phil continued his passion for athletics while playing tennis, skiing, running and even went skydiving on his 80th birthday. He loved a good book, Formula One racing and always had a sports car in the garage to work on. In later years he turned his attention to photography, genealogy, supper club and one glass of single malt scotch a night.

Phil is survived by his wife Mary; his three daughters, Sue Fullerton, Melinda Duckett (Dusty) and Meg Head (David); his grandchildren, Trey Fullerton, Drew Duckett, Christie Duckett Horne (Chris), Carter Head, Philip Head, Riley Head and Lainey Head; his great grandchildren Jaxon Horne and Rowan Horne. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Patti Cooper. He will be greatly missed by all his family.
