Richard Lee Crooks, 82, passed away on January 22, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on March 6, 1943, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Beatrice (Smith) Crooks and Thomas Crooks. He was their only child and grew up in Cincinnati.
Richard married Louella on July 18, 1963, and together they shared many years of marriage and raised three children. He proudly served in the United States Navy and, during his lifetime, also worked as a police officer and a firefighter.
In 1978, Richard and Louella moved to Texas, first living in Houston before settling in the Hill Country in 1994, where Richard lived for the remainder of his life. He was described by his family as “a collector of stuff,” a phrase that reflected his interests and personality.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Louella Crooks; his parents; and his grandson, Zachery Crooks.
He is survived by his children, Christy Jaster, Todd Crooks (Shannon), and Eric Crooks (Maryann); grandchildren, Robert Jaster, Austin Jaster, Alyssa Crooks, and Victoria Crooks; and great-grandchildren, Audey Jaster and Logan Nebeker.
