Richard Westly LeMon, age 78, made his transition into the presence of God on Thursday, January 8, 2026.
Richard lived a life anchored in an unwavering faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. His walk, his talk, and his life reflected his deep belief in the message of salvation—that eternal life is found through accepting Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior. His faith in what Christ accomplished for mankind was the foundation of everything he did.
Raised in the church and born into a rich musical lineage—the LeMon and Gordy families among them—Richard’s calling to music ministry began early. Endowed with powerful, God-given musical gifts, he used those talents not for himself alone, but to glorify God and uplift others. Alongside his beloved wife Lorraine, he traveled to more than 17 countries, ministering through music, spreading the Gospel, and bringing joy wherever they went.
Richard’s musical accomplishments were many. He built and operated a recording studio, LemonSuite, released four recordings, and managed or participated in five musical groups. His musical ability went beyond the ordinary—he could take a single note and turn it into a full composition, a gift admired by every musician who had the privilege of playing alongside him. Just as importantly, he opened doors for others, giving aspiring artists opportunities to record and develop their gifts.
Richard was a retiree of Wayne County and faithfully served in churches, community events, prisons, and children’s homes. He also worked closely with his wife, Lorraine, in nonprofit ministry through Art Heart and Christian radio outreach. His life was one of service, generosity, and encouragement.
Above all, Richard loved his family. He leaves behind his Wife of 46 years, Lorraine; his brothers and sisters, Howard, Patricia, David, Debra, and Darlene; his five children, Kelley, Nakema, Tanelly, Lequan, and Kenya; his grandchildren, Jalah, Bryon, Joshua, Jason, Jada, Brailyn, Megan, Quelan, Laiquan (preceded in death) Anthony, Ada, Lequan Jr, Aaron, Jay; along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and of course his Band “the Boyeez” Ramiro, Dale, Urbano, John James, Johnel and bill Baker that helped to keep it all together in Richard's trying times
It is believed that every human being comes into this world uniquely designed for their appointed time, carrying the gifts God has given them to fulfill their purpose. Richard came bearing the gift of music—and he poured it generously into others. Scripture says, “Your gift will make room for you and bring you before great men,” and Richard’s life was a living testimony to that
Richard Westly LeMon will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and eternally celebrated.
