Robert Alan Brayley was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on Sept. 25, 1940, to Mildred and John Brayley.
At 19, he joined the USAF and was trained in San Antonio, then sent to electronic and missile school in Denver, Colorado. His final Air Force Assignment was in Duluth, Minnesota, where he trained in computers. He often laughed and said his purpose in Minnesota was to protect us from from a Canadian invasion.
After his service, he met his beautiful wife, Gretchen. They were married in Chicago, Illinois, on Feb. 7, 1970. Since Bob and Gretchen both loved traveling, they set about exploring the world. They also loved visiting many international countries. After their retirement, they bought a bus and traveled for years, exploring the United States and Mexico. They both loved to share stories about their many adventures.
In 2003, they moved to Kerrville, Texas. He often said, “I wasn’t born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could.” They made many friends in their new home state. Sadly, Gretchen passed in 2015.
Robert was an enthusiastic trials motorcycle rider, joke teller extraordinaire, trivia lover, computer aficionado, skilled photographer, treasure hunter and caring friend. He loved life and was always up for another adventure.
Bob died on Aug. 13, 2023. Both he and Gretchen will be inurned in Arlington National Cemetery.
He will be missed by many.
