Robert Edward (Bob) Williams was born to Robert Lee Williams and Edith Williams on December 20, 1936, in Breckenridge, Texas. The family moved to Fort Worth briefly where Bob’s father worked for Gulf Oil before transferring to Odessa. A sister, Susan, was born when Bob was nine years old.
In the youth group at church, Bob dated Carolyn Harris. They were married in 1958 while Bob was in his fourth year at Abilene Christian College. The couple was blessed with 65 years together.
For many years, Bob faithfully served Churches of Christ as preaching minister. He was also an elder in the church for seven years.
To Bob and Carolyn were born two sons, Robert Edward, Jr., and John Dale. Bob is survived by Robert and his wife Sandy Harrison of Malibu, California, and John Dale and his wife Faye of Kerrville.
Grandchildren are Daniel Williams and wife Katie of Fulshear, Texas; Stephen Williams and wife Liwen Xu of Los Angeles, California; and Isaac Williams and Grace Williams of Kerrville. He is also survived by three great grandchildren, Emma, Isla, and Luca, of Fulshear, and by his sister Susan and four nieces and nephews in Odessa and Midland.
Bob loved international travel, but he loved baseball even more. In 2009, he opted out of a trip to Italy to go instead to Arizona to see one of his grandsons play in a week-long tournament.
