Rogelio “Roy” Z. Cerda, born on July 13, 1960, in San Antonio, Texas, passed away on the evening of January 9, 2025, at the age of 64. He was welcomed into the arms of his Heavenly Father after a life filled with love, hard work, and devotion to his family.
Roy was the beloved son of Paul and Elena Cerda. He spent his early years in San Antonio before moving to the Hill Country over 29 years ago. It was there in Kerrville that he met and married the love of his life, Nadine Morales. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised two children.
A hardworking man, Roy dedicated himself to providing for his family through various roles over the years. His career included working for Kerrville and Ingram ISD, Whataburger, McDonald’s, and First Baptist Church in Kerrville. His commitment to his work was matched only by his devotion to his family.
Roy found immense joy in spending quality time with his family. Whether it was beach trips, afternoons at the river, backyard barbecues, or friendly games of pool, he cherished every moment together. A passionate sports enthusiast, Roy coached YMCA football and basketball when his children were young and later delighted in cheering on his grandchildren at their games. A diehard Dallas Cowboys fan, he created a personal mancave where he could watch every game with pride and enthusiasm.
Roy’s legacy is one of love, dedication, and cherished memories shared with those closest to him. His presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elena, and brother, Paul Cerda Jr.
Roy is survived by his wife, Nadine, children, Roy Cerda Jr. (Alma), Seira Martinez (Ruben) and Dylon Cerda (Leslie Hernandez); grandchildren, Thomas, Nickolas, Jeremiah, Estevan, Roy, Julian, Jayden, Nathaniel and Landon (aka Peanut); his father, Paul Cerda; siblings, Antonio Cerda, Ricardo Cerda (Sandra), Terry Guzman (Joe Garcia), Albert Cerda, Danny Cerda (Sylvia) and Martin Cerda (Vicki); along with other close family and friends.
May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him.
