Roger Mack Roberts Jr, 77, passed away peacefully at his home in Bandera, Texas, on June 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in El Paso, Texas, on November 9, 1947, to Ruby (Holt) and Roger Roberts Sr. A proud graduate of Bandera High School, he was later drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served with honor in the infantry during the Vietnam War.
On his birthday in 1982, Roger married the love of his life, Deborah Kay Miller, beneath the Marriage Tree in Pipe Creek, Texas. Together they built a life grounded in love, faith, and hard work, raising four sons in the community they called home. Roger spent many years coaching his boys in various sports and, above all, instilled in them his unmatched problem-solving skills and work ethic.
Roger had a remarkable knack for fixing just about anything and was always the first to step up when someone needed a hand. Whether it was a home project or something unexpected, friends and family knew they could count on his steady hands and willing heart. As a self-employed man, he valued the freedom to give his time where it mattered most—often to family, friends, and neighbors in need.
Roger was most at peace outdoors, especially when fishing. Whether alone on the Grand Lakes of Michigan or casting a line closer to home, fishing brought him joy and serenity. He was also a fan of college sports, a UT Longhorns supporter, and a talented woodworker known for carving fish. In recent years, he found a new passion in drawing.
Deeply spiritual, Roger read the Bible cover to cover many times. His favorite scripture was John 1:1-4: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…”
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Bill, Charlie, Lois, and Anita.
Roger leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and faith. He is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Debbie Roberts; sons Gordon Bradford (Loretta), Robert Bradford (Raquel), Roger Roberts, and Dustin Roberts (Jackie); sisters Francis Foust and Sally Reus; grandchildren Justin, Hailey, Kodi, Landon, Robert, Joseph, Kassandra, Jonathan, Darian, Kadence, Khloe, and Coltin; and one precious great-granddaughter, Abigayle.
Roger’s memory will live on in the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the quiet strength he showed every day.
