Roy Harvey Mitchell Jr., 78, passed away on May 12, 2026, in Fredericksburg, Texas. He was born on July 7, 1947, in Georgia to the late Luthera and Harvey Mitchell.
Roy attended Albany High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Valdosta State College, followed by a Master of Science in Management from Florida International University. He built a successful career as an IT consultant, where his intelligence, problem-solving skills, and dedication were greatly valued.
Roy proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii.
He married the love of his life, Sharon Guy Mitchell, in Dallas, Texas. Together they made their home in Frisco, Texas, for 25 years before moving to Harper, Texas, more than two and a half years ago.
An avid cyclist, Roy discovered his passion for biking in the 1980s and remained devoted to the hobby throughout his life. He was also well known for his amazing cheesecakes, which brought joy to many gatherings and celebrations.
Roy loved the Lord, his bicycle, his wife, and his dogs in that order.
A private memorial service will be held in Frisco at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samaritan’s Purse or your local SPCA.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the Hill Country Memorial Hospice team and Knopp Nursing Home of Fredericksburg for the compassionate care they provided to Roy.
