Sarah Maebeth Fugett, 71, passed away on Sept. 23, 2024, at her home in Kerrville. Born on Feb. 05, 1953, in El Campo to Mary Mae (Gibson) and Venoy Ernest Fugett.
In 2017, Sarah retired from the Kerrville State Hospital as a rehab specialist. Prior to that she was a military wife and was a part of an oil family.
Sarah had a deep passion for being an artist of all mediums; charcoal, acrylic, and watercolors. While the family was living in Germany, she was a featured artist at a local art show. She could also be found working on her fitness routine with weight training, even lifting weights the night before her mastectomy.
She found peace in the solitude of nature enjoying her time spent outdoors. Sarah was fierce and protective of those she held dear to herself. Sarah loved her family, friends, art, and animals more than anything else. And she loved her longtime partner, Tomas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Nancy Fugett; and brothers, George Robert "Bob" Fugett and Joseph Charles "Chuck" Fugett.
Sarah is survived by her longtime companion, Tomas Martinez of Kerrville; daughter, Tera O'Niell and husband Scott; grandchildren, Chris Jackson and wife, Hunter of Kerrville, Sera Ann O’Niell of Kyle, and Timothy Leatherman of Abilene; great grandchildren, Dawson and Kamryn.
In honor of Sarah and her love of the big family barbeques, they will be holding a celebration of life on Oct. 05, 2024, at the family’s home.
