Theodorus "Theo" Jozef Tromm, 88, completed his earthly journey and set sail on his final voyage on February 9, 2025. He was born in Bussum, the Netherlands, to Jacobus Tromm and Cornelia Tromm Wichmann.
Theo began his early education in the Netherlands, but due to the upheaval of World War II, his family relocated to South America before eventually settling in Corpus Christi, Texas, with Theo moving first to complete high school. Soon after, Theo joined the National Guard, proudly serving his adopted country. Following his service, he worked alongside his brothers in construction, building boats and constructing the Riviera Apartments, the first high-rise apartment building on Corpus Christi Bay. As life led each brother down different paths, Theo pursued welding school and took on freelance work before joining Mooney Aircraft in Kerrville, TX, where he worked as a machinist and welder.
Beyond his work, Theo had many passions. He loved woodworking and built countless birdhouses for his beloved wife, Betty, as well as helping in the construction of their home where they lived the last 47 years.
Given his upbringing near the coast, he had a deep love for sailing and boating. He, Betty, and their children spent many cherished moments traveling in their RV, exploring new places. His adventurous spirit also led him to obtain his pilots license. Above all, he adored his family and took great pride in the life they built.
Theo is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Betty Greenhill Tromm; his children, Gary Tromm (Barb) and Tracy Zuercher (Barry); his grandchildren, Katy Tromm and Nick Zuercher; his great-granddaughter, Layla; his sister, Catharina "Rooky" Biehn; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Antonius "Tony" Tromm, Jacobus "Jack" Tromm, and Hendericus “Henny” Tromm.
A service to honor Theo's life will be held at a later date. His legacy of love, craftsmanship, and adventure will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
